Historic Photograph Signed Twice with the same pen Nimitz used to sign the Japanese Surrender Document aboard the USS Missouri, being an 10.5 in. by 13.5 in., oblong, black and white matt-finished photograph of the Japanese Surrender Ceremony ending World War II, showing the admiral signing the Instrument of Surrender aboard the USS Missouri. Matted to an overall 18 in. by 15 in. Boldly signed on the table: "C.W. Nimitz U.S. Representative"; and signed and inscribed across the bottom margin: "To Hilary Klingenwirth- With best wishes and great appreciation of your fine hospitality CW Nimitz, Fleet Admiral, U.S.N." This famed dual signed photographic image by Nimitz was signed with the same pen used to sign the surrender document. Nimitz religiously adhered to signing this specific oversized 10.5 in. by 13.5 in. image of the surrender with the same fountain pen he signed the Instrument of Surrender that ended World War II. Some surface wear, marginal creasing, normal aging and handling. Otherwise in very good condition. Custom matted. $OLD. |
